Made with a hollow forged construction and a High-Strength Maraging Steel face that produces high ball speeds, X Utility Prototype Irons have quickly become the #1 Utility irons at PGA Tour events. They're available in three different lofts - 18°, 21°, 24° - and feature a shallow face height with a deep center of gravity and a strong sound at impact. These Tour-focused utility irons provide elite players with a versatile option on tight tee shots and approach shots from the fairway or rough.
Callaway Chief Designer Roger Cleveland relieved the heel and toe of these utility irons so that they move through grass easier and penetrate tougher lies in the rough. They also feature more weight at the bottom and a deep CG to help create higher launch angles.
Forged for Performance:
Forged construction is designed for excellent feel along with a High-Strength Maraging Steel face to produce fast ball speeds.
Weight screw is used to optimize the weight of the club. The design also allows for more options from a variety of lies.
Trusted by the Best Players in the World:
Callaway X Utility Prototype irons have been the #1 Utility irons at PGA Tour events, where players like Phil Mickelson, Kelly Kraft and Ernie Els are using them inside the ropes. Els used three of them during his thrilling win at the Open Championship.

Nice club-Replaced by #3 iron Hybrid
Tim from Oregon, OH | 5/29/2014 12:28 PM
Tended to pull my Callaway X Hot #3 iron Hybrid, but this is nice and straight. Solid feel when you are right on the sweet spot. (Was told the new X Hot 2 is less offset) Can't find optional weight inserts, only negative
its fun to swing this club.
Porky from Kettering, OH | 3/1/2014 11:36 AM
You can't miss the fairway. Toe, sweet spot, or heel. Its pretty straight. Much more predictable flight than a hybrid. Compact, sharp-looking. For the price, it should've had a graphite shaft. Sweet iron at a fairway wood price.
Better than a hybrid
Jredskins from Moyock, NC | 6/5/2013 1:50 PM
This course had a lot of tight fairways, so I opted to use this club six times from the tee box and on my second shot on the par 5’s. You can crush it without worrying about missing the fairway! Every time it went straight and long, in fact twice I out hit the other three players that were using a driver. Off the ground I averaged 220 and off the tee 244. ALWAYS STRAIGHT & LONG IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FAIRWAY. I calculated distance with a GPS. Buy-it and replace your hybrid.
